Who Is That Person in My Mirror??

OK everyone as you face yourself first thing in the morning, who is that staring back at you in the mirror? I had a friend who told me once that the one thing she noticed about getting older is that it takes her face an extra 30 minutes in the morning to fall back in place! I can so relate, but more than anything, I see my mother. Really I am cool with that because eventhough my mother didn’t have a perfect face, she had life written all over her face. She was great and therefore that helps me as I see her staring back at me. The one attribute I really don’t want to see is my arm continuing to move after I have finished brushing my hair. My mom had this and I am trying hard to keep it to a minimum. So far, so good, but it comes with making a conscious effort of doing some sort of arm exercise everyday. That is what I love about Yoga. You can so work your upper body and sometimes not even be aware of how hard you are toning and shaping your upper body. 20 pushups a day, knees or no knees and you can help save your arms. It doesn’t take a lot of time or effort to make some difference. I challenge you to check out your arms as you brush your hair in the morning. If the arms keep moving long after the last hair is in place, drop and give me 20 pushups!! You won’t be sorry. Have a great day and please be sure and tell me who you find staring back at you in your mirror. Kathy

A post on Cody’s blog sent me your way. It’s great to see older people blogging and having their wisdom injected into the conversation. Welcome!

I don’t really spend a lot of time looking in the mirror at myself but having just cleared 40 and find the person that I see reminds me of my father. Raising two kids (5 & 7) has been an eye-opener. Some of the phrases that I never thought I’d hear again from my parents come right out of my own mouth when I’m talking with my children. It’s a cosmic wink from mother nature, part of some grand design I’m sure.

As Grace Slick once sang, “You’re only pretty as you feel,” it’s your attitude inside that ultimately projects outward. Mirrors are just amplifying devices ;-)

Ah yes-it is time to find that inner beauty and of that I can assure I have twice as much of than I did in my 20’s and 30’s!! Our parent’s wisdom does indeed come in handy when raising our own children. I feel very fortunate that I had good role models in my parents although at times I thought they were way off base. Thanks for your input. Have a great day. Kathy
